MCA SUPPORTIVE OF NYS LAND CLAIM PROGRESS

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is supportive of the steps taken by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe this week to move the Akwesasne community’s New York State land claim closer to finalization.  It is a land claim that has spanned three decades and the MOU signing is a major step in the direction of progress.

We wish to emphasize to community members that the settlement itself has not been finalized and still requires state and county approvals.  More information regarding this land claim and MOU signing is available on the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s website at www.srmt-nsn.gov.
