2024 Community Garden Pilot Project

The SRMT Agriculture Program is excited to announce that they are launching a 2024 Community Garden Pilot Project this spring where members can receive a garden plot or raised bed at the Tribal Farm on Blair Rd. Akwesasro:non are invited to a meeting to discuss the details on Monday, February 26th from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Environment Division Conference room. Service Canada Representative

Akwesasne, if you have questions about: Old Age Security (OAS) Pension, Canada Pension, Social Insurance Numbers, Employment Insurance, a Service Canada Representative will be in Akwesasne on the second Tuesday of each month at the Cornwall Island Administration Building #3 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (closed for lunch from Noon-1 p.m.). Please go directly to the CIA#3 for services. The next visits will be on: • March 12April 9May 14

They are also available on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Village of St. Regis at the ACESS Building from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (closed for lunch from Noon-1 p.m.) The next visits will be on: •February 27March 26April 23May 28. Please remember that if you are coming in for a SIN card, you will need your original Birth Certificate and Status Card on hand. For any other inquiries please bring all correspondence you received from Service Canada with you. MCA Health Promotion and Prevention Program Lunch & Learn

On February 27 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. join the MCA Health Promotion and Prevention Program for a Lunch & Learn on how to prevent elder falls. There will be a mock living room setup, prevention strategies and an anti-slip safety bag giveaway.

three-day trauma-informed services conference

The Akwesasne Family Wellness Program would like to invite frontline workers in the community to a three-day trauma-informed services conference! Join us for hands-on training to incorporate within our organizations and with clients. March 18-20 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) at the Best Western located at 1515 Vincent Massey Drive, Cornwall.

The conference will cover topics such as sex trafficking, mental health, substance use, survivor-centered healing, and more.

Tribal Transportation Improvement Program Updates

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Planning and Infrastructure (P&I) Department is informing the community of updates to the 2024 Tribal Transportation Improvement Program (TTIP) funding allocations. Projects in 2024 TTIP include: Frogtown Rd., Tarbell Rd., Beaver Meadow Rd., Pumphouse Rd., and the Rt. 37 Safety Project.
